How to split a PDF
- Choose the document. Drag it into the area above or click to pick it.
-
Decide how to cut it. One file per page, or the ranges you write
yourself —
1-3, 7gives you those pages. - Press Split PDF. Your browser writes the new files.
- Download them, one at a time or all together as a .zip.
One file per page, or by ranges?
Per page when you need every page on its own. By ranges when the document has parts that belong together.
A twenty-page contract split page by page gives you twenty files and a headache. The same
contract split as 1-4, 5-12, 13-20 gives you the
sections someone actually asked for.
Why is nothing uploaded?
Because there is no server here to receive it. The site is static files, and that is all.
The code that splits the document is downloaded once and then runs on your own machine. This page declares a Content Security Policy listing the few addresses it may contact, and your file is not among them: the browser itself would block an attempt to send it. Open your developer tools while you split a file and watch the network traffic.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. There is no application server: the site is made of static files only. The code that splits the PDF runs in your browser, on your own device.
Do the split files keep the original quality?
Yes. The pages are copied across as they are, not re-rendered or recompressed. What goes in is what comes out.
Can I split a password protected PDF?
Not directly. An encrypted document has to be unlocked first, with its password, and only then can it be split.
How many files can I get out of one document?
There is no limit we impose. The real limit is your device's memory: a very long document split page by page produces many files at once, and a phone will struggle sooner than a laptop.
